Honoring Our History

Rock Hill has always been more than a place on the map. It is a city with a history of resilience, community, and progress. From its role in the Civil Rights Movement with the Friendship Nine and Freedom Rides, to the growth fueled by the railroad, cotton mills, and textile industry, Rock Hill has been shaped by people who built something lasting.

Sarah Vining believes that as Rock Hill continues to grow, we must protect the character and charm: our history, our neighborhoods, and the community spirit that make this city feel like home. Growth is important, but it cannot come at the expense of the very qualities that make Rock Hill unique.

Balancing Growth With Preservation

For Sarah, character and charm are not things to be sacrificed for progress. They are the foundation that progress should be built on.

Development brings opportunity. It can strengthen our economy, create new spaces, and connect people across the city. But growth must be thoughtful and balanced, or else Rock Hill risks losing the qualities that make it special.

Sarah’s vision is to guide growth in a way that supports both the future and the past by:

  • Protecting neighborhoods so longtime residents are not pushed out by rapid change.

  • Supporting local businesses that add vibrancy to our downtown and beyond.

  • Preserving landmarks and stories that connect us to our roots.

Leadership That Reflects Our Values

Sarah’s vision for leadership is rooted in preserving what makes Rock Hill special while guiding it toward a strong future. She knows residents want growth that creates opportunity, but not at the cost of the neighborhoods, stories, and traditions that give this city its soul.

Her goal is simple: to make sure Rock Hill grows without losing the very things that make it feel like home. With the right leadership, we can welcome new opportunities while protecting the history, warmth, and community spirit that define Rock Hill’s character and charm.

Why November 4 Matters

On November 4, Ward 6 voters will decide the future of Rock Hill. Your vote is your voice. Together, we can protect Rock Hill’s character and charm while planning for thoughtful growth.
